StG announces new £2m base

Posted on: 20th December 2012

MORE than £2 million will be invested in a new manufacturing plant and global headquarters for a specialist gas supplier.

Scientific and Technical Gases Ltd (StG) has bought the former Air Liquide UK site close to its existing base in Speedwell Road, Newcastle.

Work has already started on refurbishing the office space on the 1.5 acre site.

But the £2.1 million scheme, phased over three years, will also include the development of existing gas mixing buildings, building a new 10,000 sq ft manufacturing plant and the construction of a new global headquarters for StG.

A spokesman said: "The new site will dramatically increase StG's production capacity and give the company a purpose-built integrated site to house all of our departments.

"This will mean the company can build on its already very strongexporting base and allow StG to move into new markets as well and continue to service its existing customers more effectively."

Five new members of staff will be taken on by StG next month.
